For years, research workers and professionals have mostly investigated the various processes within manufacturing supply chains singularly. 1 Introduction

A supply chain might be defined as an integrated process in which a number of several business choices (i. e., suppliers, producers, distributors, and retailers) come together in an effort to: (1) acquire raw materials, (2) convert these unprocessed trash into specified final items, and (3) deliver these final goods to retailers. This cycle is typically characterized by a forward movement of elements and a backward stream of information. For years, researchers and practitioners have got primarily investigated the various operations of the source chain singularly. Recently, nevertheless , there has been increasing attention positioned on the efficiency, design, and analysis in the supply sequence as a whole. The existing interest has sought to extend the traditional supply chain to include. reverse strategies., to include product recovery intended for the functions of recycling, re-manufacturing, and re-use. Within just manufacturing research, the supply sequence concept grew largely out of two-stage multi-echelon inventory models, in fact it is important to remember that considerable improvement has been made in the design and analysis of two-echelon systems. Most of the analysis in this area will be based upon the classic function of Clark and Headscarf (1960) and Clark and Scarf (1962). The interested reader can be referred to Federgruen (1993) and Bhatnagar, ou. al. (1993) for complete reviews of models of this type. More recent conversations of two-echelon models might be found in Diks, et. 's. (1996) and van Houtum, et. ing. (1996).
